Tuition and any other payments to Down East Dance can be paid by: cash or check payable to Down East Dance or bank auto draft/automatic credit card payment. (*There is a 3% convenience fee for using credit cards). Tuition is due the 1st of each month and is late after the 10th and will occur a $10 late fee on late payments. *Monthly tuition is not a per class/per month charge but is broken down based on annual tuition, so monthly payments are same regardless of number of days in each month. Tuition will be debited the 5th of every month for those on auto-pay. The month of August is 1/4 of regular monthly tuition. All payments are non-refundable. All charges will appear as being from Down East Dance, Inc. Summer Workshops & other workshops are a one time fee to be paid in full upon enrollment.
Down East Dance holds its annual end of year recital each May. Costumes for recital generally range from $50-$70 per costume, per class and a $25 non-refundable costume deposit is due October 1st with remaining balance due March 1st. *Once recital theme/costumes are selected, families will be notified of full costume balance due, usually January/February. Families are responsible for all costume fees (which are non-returnable & non-refundable) for any classes their student is enrolled in and any classes dropped after December 1st.
For those involved in our biannual Nutcracker, there is a $25 Costume Rental Fee that covers cleaning, dry-cleaning, and repairs of the Down East Dance Nutcracker costumes. Nutcracker Costume Rental Fee is due Nov. 1.
Recital fee is $25 per student (which will include a $10 coupon code towards tickets to recital) Additional tickets will be available for purchase. Recital fee is used to help with facility rental, lighting & sound equipment rental, etc.
Refunds are not given for classes missed, but make up classes can be taken within 1 month of missed class in another class this is equal or close to your students' current class. Make up classes cannot be taken after December 1st due to Recital preparations during class. Please discuss with instructor so they may guide you to a proper make up class. If a student needs to withdraw from a class (es), we must receive a 30 day written notice of intent to withdraw. All tuition charges will stop after the one month notice period.
We do hand out paper copies of some of our studio information for parents, however our main source of communication is through e-mail. It is extremely important that you provide us with an e-mail address that you check often so as not to miss out on any important information. If your e-mail account or other contact information changes, please provided us with your updated information as soon as possible...we want communications to be convenient and clear for our dance families.
Our fantastic faculty are always ready to teach our students, however students are not to be left at the studio for excessive time before or after class and should never be left alone when the studio is closed. Students should not arrive more than 15 minutes prior to their class and must be picked up within 15 minutes after their class has ended. We want all our students safe...
Class attendance is crucial in the development of the student and their classes. Class timeliness is also very important - warm ups are done right at the beginning of class time and if dancers are not properly warmed up, their bodies are not prepared for the remainder of class technique and exercises which could result in injury. Please make every effort to arrive on time. A minimum attendance level is required. If a dancer misses 5 classes after classes start back in January, they may be reviewed as to whether or not they will be allowed to participate in the year end performance. Classes are like teams, if one of our team members is absent, it puts the whole team behind. We want our dancers to be cohesive and prepared and for each dancer to feel success...
In the event of extreme weather (ex. hurricane, snow/ice) or unexpected interruption of classes (ex. gas leak, power outage), we normally follow Craven County Schools. Therefore if Craven County Schools cancel school or their after school activities, we will usually be closed as well. If we must cancel classes due to extreme weather or events beyond our control such as power outages, etc., the missed lessons will not be made up. We will notify families of any cancellations/schedule changes via our Down East Dance Facebook page as well as the e-mail address that we have on file for your family.
