Down East Dance strives to bring excellence into each of its classes. We believe that when dancers are prepared and dress for success they start the process for achieving greatness...
Please review our Dress Code carefully...
· Hair – all hair must be pulled back from face and secured. Long hair should be in a bun for ballet class and off the face and neck for other classes such as in a ponytail. *Students enrolled in Ballet 2 through Adv. Ballet should have hair in a bun. Short hair should be secured with head bands or barrettes. Please have extra ponytail holders, hair pins, etc. in your dance bag just in case you need them.
· Jewelry – not allowed in class unless small earrings. Please leave all other jewelry at home so you don't lose it.
· Warmup Clothes – should be removed before class begins or at the discretion of your instructor.
· No underwear with tights, boxer shorts, soffe shorts, t-shirts (except for Boys Hip Hop), denim, or other non-dancewear items to be worn during class; it limits the instructor to see students’ alignment properly.
· No bras: if you need support, wear a nude dance bra or nude body liner under your leotard – see us for help. No "regular" bras.
· DO NOT WEAR YOUR DANCE SHOES OUTSIDE. You will not only risk ruining your shoes, but our dance floors could be damaged as well.
· Please LABEL all shoes and other related dance items with your dancer’s name so lost items may be returned.

Girls - Light Pink leotard without attached skirt, pink ballet tights, pink leather ballet shoes (we prefer they are purchased through Down East Dance). Boys - solid T-shirt, solid athletic shorts or leggings, black ballet or jazz shoes. Caregivers - comfortable/stretchy clothing that is easy to move in, bare feet.
• Preschool

Any solid color leotard, leggings, capris, dance shorts (no soffe shorts) tights are ok if they are footless or convertible, no shoes or socks. (No underwear under leotard). Boys - solid fitted tank & athletic shorts, no shoes or socks.
• All Clogging
Any solid color leotard, athletic top, t-shirt, comfortable workout style dance pants, black oxford or slip on tap shoes.
• Boys
Ballet – white or black, fitted t-shirt or tank (not baggy), black leggings or shorts, white or black socks, black ballet shoes.
Tap/Jazz/Lyrical – non-baggy t-shirt or tank, black jazz pants (no baggy pants) or shorts, black tap or jazz shoes.
Hip Hop – t-shirt/tank top and shorts or sweatpants/athletic pants, black dance sneakers. No denim.
• Adult Ballet
Any solid color leotard (if preferred), or yoga type fitted clothing, ballet tights (if preferred), ballet shoes.
Those that qualify for Pointe:
*Pointe shoes should be fitted and purchased (upon approval of instructor) at one of the following dance shops:
