Since 1984 Down East Dance classes have been carefully designed to promote coordination, flexibility, strength, technique, correct alignment & creativity! We strive to promote & develop self confidence & self esteem in a supportive & enjoyable dance environment. Down East Dance offers classes in Preschool & Kinderdance, Classical & Contemporary Ballet & Pointe, Tap, Clogging, Jazz, Hip Hop, Acro for Dance & Lyrical for ages 3 to adult.
Classes are designed to follow a 9 month comprehensive curriculum including technique, terminology, and creativity followed by year-end recital/performance to display the progress of the students.
Every student has the opportunity to perform in the year-end recital. Other performance opportunities include Mumfest, Festival of Fun, Disney World, etc. Ballet 2 through Advanced ballet students also have the opportunity to participate in Down East Dance's bi-annual production of The Nutcracker Ballet held at the historic Athens Theatre, downtown New Bern.
